Fiber Installation: What you need to know

Minimum requirement

For a fibre socket to be installed in your apartment, the fibre cables must already be laid to your building. Property management usually has all the necessary information on whether the expansion has been carried out or is planned.

Availability check

Before installation can begin, an availability check is required. Check whether fibre is already available at your address here:

What to do if fibre is not available?

If fibre is not yet available at your address, you can ask property management whether an expansion is planned. A request can also be submitted to Swisscom: https://www.swisscom.ch/en/about/network/connection.html

What we take care of

We arrange the installation of the fibre socket directly in your apartment. It is free of charge and carried out by Swisscom or Cablex. During the order, simply select "I would like a free installation of a fibre socket".

⚠ Important

Please check carefully whether an OTO socket is already installed in your apartment. These usually start with A, B or O. If you request a new OTO socket during your order and one is already installed, the service provider will charge a cancellation fee of CHF 100.– to CHF 150.–.

OTO socket in an inconvenient location?

If the OTO socket is installed in an inconvenient place, for example in the hallway or behind a piece of furniture, you can have it moved only at your own expense. Swisscom is only obliged to install a functioning socket. Choosing its location within the apartment is not part of this.

Example of an OTO socket:

Switch from DSL to fibre

1Start the switch in the customer login

If you are currently using DSL and would like to switch to fibre, you start the switch yourself in the customer login: Subscriptions → Internet → tab "Adjust". Direct link: my.teleboy.ch/service/internet

2Choose a date and enter the OTO-ID

Choose a preferred date and enter the OTO-ID of your fibre socket. It is printed on the socket, e.g. B.123.456.789.0. If you don't have a fibre socket yet, tick the box stating that there is no fibre (OTO) connection at your home instead, and confirm this. The order cannot be submitted without one of these two entries. Where can I find the OTO-ID?

3We take care of the rest

We check availability at your address and initiate all the necessary steps.

ℹ No fibre socket yet?

In that case, a technician installs the socket free of charge. The switch date is automatically postponed until the socket has been installed. The date shown is then only a preferred date. Until then, your DSL remains active.

⚠ Only state "no socket" if that is really the case

As with a new order (see above), the same applies to the switch: if you state that there is no fibre socket although there is one, the technician's visit will be charged to you (CHF 100.– to 150.–). You confirm this in a dialog in the customer login.

✓ Good to know

In the same area you'll also find the tabs "Move" for a change of address and "Cancel".
