Why can I no longer watch SRG channels in FullHD?

SRG makes its TV programs available to all end customers and retransmitters in HD format (720p50) via satellite.

The HD format is the reference signal and thus the SRG standard, which corresponds to the quality customary in the industry and the broadcasting regulations.

SRG is also legally obliged to ensure that people with sensory impairments are provided with a service and to remove barriers in this regard. For people with sensory impairments, it is essential that the additional services (subtitling, audio description and sign language) are fully integrated into the rebroadcasters' offering. SRG is relying on HbbTV for this.

HbbTV is currently the only international standard that efficiently enables this integration and channel linking across different technical platforms.

SRG therefore only makes the SRG TV program (e.g. SRF 1 & SRF 2) available to retransmitters in FullHD format (1080p50), which respects the signal integrity and enables the additional services (including services for people with sensory impairments) to be used by the end customer.

Integration of HBBTV is not technically possible on the TV boxes. For this reason, Teleboy cannot comply with the SRG's demands.
