Why is 3G being shut down?
3G is an outdated technology. The released frequencies will be used for faster and more efficient 4G and 5G networks.
Am I affected?
You are affected if your device:
- only supports 3G
- does not support VoLTE
- has VoLTE deactivated
- uses a very old SIM card
After the shutdown, calls, SMS and mobile data will no longer work over 3G.
What will change?
If you use a 4G/5G device with VoLTE enabled, nothing changes. Otherwise, you'll need to switch to a modern device or activate VoLTE.
What about emergency calls?
Emergency calls (e.g. eCall from your car) will no longer work over 3G. Make sure VoLTE is activated or another connection is available.
