What is the difference between Serafe and GT12?

SERAFE AG is the Swiss collection agency for the radio and television levy. It has been collecting the new household tax since 1 January 2019. The household tax finances the public radio and television broadcasters in Switzerland. It must be paid by all households and businesses. In contrast, the new partial agreement around replay (GT12) relates to private TV broadcasters, which finance their programmes mainly through advertising revenue and do not benefit from the Serafe household levy. They have lost important revenue due to the increasing popularity of replay TV and the associated increased skipping of advertising. The new measures are a substitute for this. SRF and all other public broadcasters are not part of the agreement and therefore do not show replay advertising.
