Why is the new replay advertising being introduced?

According to the current copyright law, all TV providers must pay broadcasters for the time-shifted distribution of their content. The tariff for this is negotiated between the industry associations (Suissedigital and Swissstream) and the collecting societies (ProLitteris, SSA Société Suisse des Auteurs, SUISA, SUISSIMAGE and SWISSPERFORM). The collecting societies and the broadcasters' associations agreed on a higher tariff (Common Tariff 12) in June 2020, which regulates time-shifted television in Switzerland based on the Copyright Act. The industry agreement is an agreement between broadcasters and broadcasters to be able to continue to offer time-shifted television in Switzerland in its current form in the future. The National Council called on broadcasters and broadcasters to find an amicable solution at the end of 2018. The new forms of advertising are intended to compensate for the broadcasters' monetary losses - caused by the rewinding of advertising on replay TV.
