Why is my Android set-up box (e.g. Formuler Z) not supported for Teleboy TV?
Some set-up boxes run on standard Android rather than Android TV or Google TV. This distinction matters for app compatibility – here's why.
Android vs. Android TV / Google TV
Standard Android (the operating system on most smartphones and tablets) was designed for touchscreens and is not optimised for use on TVs. A set-up box running a traditional version of Android – such as a Formuler Z – may have compatibility, performance, and user experience issues with TV apps that are specifically built for Android TV or Google TV.
Android TV and Google TV, in contrast, are designed specifically for TVs and set-up boxes. They offer an intuitive interface optimised for remote control use, better performance, and compatibility with popular streaming services including Teleboy.
Our recommendation
To use the Teleboy TV app, we recommend devices equipped with Android TV or Google TV, such as:
- Nokia Streaming Box 8000
- Xiaomi Mi Box S
- Google Chromecast (latest generation)
ℹ Note
Teleboy does not support generic Android boxes (e.g. Formuler Z) as these do not run Android TV or Google TV.
